Can't boot to 19

Post by AllanPen »

I made a UEFI USB bootable using Rufus for the new Mint 19, but my Dell Inspiron 15 - 5578 won't boot to it. I can still boot to the Mint 18 USB which was created the same way using Rufus. So is there some difference with the Mint 19 booting format?

Try >>> Boot Mint 18 and use the USB image writer to burn the 19 ISO to a (different) USB!
Full time Linux Mint user since 2011 - Currently running LM21C on multiple Dell laptops - mostly Vostro models.

I did fail to mention the Mint 19 USB wouldn't boot to my PC with UEFI either. I've tried Unebootin to make the USB. I'll give USB Image writer a try.

All you have to do is right click on the iso file and select make bootable USB stick. That will open Image Writer.

Nope still doesn't work. UEFI is such a pain in the @#$
I just can't figure why the Mint 18 works OK.
