Scanmagic 1200 UB no longer detected after installing LM19 Mate

Hello.

I recently got a new comp and installed LM19 Mate. My scanner, which used to work on older Linux Mint and Ubuntu 16.04 isn't detected any more .

Any idea what's happening and how to make it work?

I would check in Synaptic Package Manager, use "sane" in the quick-search box, to see if libsane, a few other libsane libraries, and the sane-utils are installed.
Oh, and most likely one would need the simple-scan program.

There's no libsane package in the package manager. Could it be the reason simple-scan doesn't detect the scanner?

Is that the same scanner as a Mustek 1200 UB?

I am not on Mint 19, so I cannot check to see about libsane for Mint 19 . . hopefully another member who is on 19 will reply.

PS: The link above is very very OLD, and I'm not sure if I would suggest that you try any of that information.

The package you want for Mint 19 is libsane1. Also install libsane-common, libsane-extras, libsane-extras-common

Thanks for the replies. I tried them all but it still doesn't detect it.

I realised that the most probable reason is that it's dead, IIRC it would usually power up when system boots. My previous computer got motherboard fried by dying PSU, so I guess it must have killed it too.
