SOLVED Youtube Video Playback Issue

Post by otlichnik73 » Thu Sep 13, 2018 2:55 am

Hi there, everyone!
Can anyone explain the reason for the video playback issue (Using Firefox on Linux Mint 18 ):
In youtube, message "if playback doesn't begin shortly, try restarting your device"
Rebooting helps for a while, then the issue re-surfaces
After some research so far I have done this:
1. Disabled hardware acceleration in FF
2. In ff's about:config, made sure media.autoplay.enabledvalue is true
Some forums suggest updating NVIDIA driver - how can that be done in Mint?
Cheers!

Thanks, but I already installed those:

Code: Select all

Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
mint-meta-codecs is already the newest version (2017.06.25).
The following packages were automatically installed and are no longer required:
  alien at debugedit libev4 libllvm5.0 libllvm5.0:i386 librpmbuild3
  librpmsign3 libxcb-dpms0 libxcb-xinerama0 lsb-core lsb-security mokutil
  ncurses-term pax rpm
Use 'sudo apt autoremove' to remove them.
0 to upgrade, 0 to newly install, 0 to remove and 6 not to upgrade.
The hard thing is, the problem is intermittent; it is OK at the moment, but once in a while I am forced to reboot...

G'day again catweazel - did you have any other suggestions for your fellow Mint user Aussie?
Tah!
