Brother HL-3142CW

Hello guys,

I've got some problems with installing my printer. It's a Brother HL-3142CW and I'm always getting an error message. "Idle - File "/usr/lib/cups/filter/brother_lpdwrapper_hl3142cw" not available: No such file or directory"

Where do I get this file from? And how do I put it into the file? Because I can't simply copy and paste... idk it's not possible to paste into this file...

but there's no install tool for the Brother HL-3142... what can I do now?

No... there's no direct installer... and every time I try to install the drive manually, it doesn't work, because there's some sort of "filter" missing.

Where do I get the filter or the installer from? It's not on the webpage of Brother anymore.

No... there's no direct installer...

Click "Agree to the EULA and download". Then apply the how-to I linked to in my first message.

Well... but the instruction says, that you need the installer... but you can't download the installer... only the drive without the installer... that is the problem... the instruction is useless if there's no installer...

I can't install the drive myself... I've tried it but it didn't work at all... if I install it myself, the filter is missing.

I can't download the automatic installer. It's not on the page. Look at the screenshot I sent you. That is the problem. You can't follow the instructions if you haven't got the installer...

If you can only download the .deb installers: simply double-click those as if they were .exe Windows installers.

I tried to install everything again... and I followed the instructions. It still doesn't work. The printer filter is still missing.
