Alphabet Inc's Google will shut down the consumer version of its failed social network Google+ and tighten its data-sharing policies after announcing that private profile data of at least 500,000 users may have been exposed to hundreds of external developers.

So, Google screws up and we the users get punished.
Not real happy about this.

Re: Google+ is dead...
It’s been dead for a few years already. The only person I have come across who was using it was one Android dev, whose app is currently dead too.
Re: Google+ is dead...
That will be a huge update on all of their platforms linked to Google +.......
Re: Google+ is dead...
As for me, Google+ was the most useless social network ever.

Google and certain others are at the top of my personal " &hit Parade " of the most ruthless and relentless data-harvesters on Earth .
It's not a service I would ever have used , so I won't be shedding any tears .
Just the usual caveat about all such services -
Be extremely picky about where you place your trust , now more than ever before .
" Hollywood actress has private photos leaked from cloud storage " .... shock , horror !
I rest my case .

Google+ is scheduled to be removed in August 2019.
Re: Google+ is dead...
I wonder if this will shutdown Google Voice and Gmail? I read some on the internet about this shutdown but nobody seems to really know much yet

Re: Google+ is dead...
The only time I used Google+ was when I gave a bad rating for a well-known restaurant 7 years ago. What happened was, my friends and I went there to eat lunch and waited more than 1 hour to get seated. Then, after getting seated and taking our orders (additional 30 minutes), the waitress lost my order. I was told only after all my friends were almost done eating, and the waitress had to re-take my orders. By that time, I was already starving for more than 2 hours in that place. That was the first and last time there. And I did not feel sad when I found out they closed.
So, that's how I put Google+ to good use.

Re: Google+ is dead...
the only time i ever went to Google+ is to make sure i was blocking everything it was associated with. i was forced a few times to navigate it when looking for some answers to linux or hardware troubleshootings and comments were posted on Google+ but as soon as i found out how slow the page loaded i would rather have no answer than try to figure out it's layout.
Re: Google+ is dead...
Why not. It is not really important like a social media, also everything goes into messengers now. And instagram.

The reviews are a part of Google Maps, not Google+.mediclaser wrote: ⤴Tue Oct 09, 2018 12:14 pmThe only time I used Google+ was when I gave a bad rating for a well-known restaurant 7 years ago.

That is if you are looking for reviews. But if you are the one writing a review, you use a Google+ account.Jendrej wrote: ⤴Wed Oct 10, 2018 10:46 amThe reviews are a part of Google Maps, not Google+.mediclaser wrote: ⤴Tue Oct 09, 2018 12:14 pmThe only time I used Google+ was when I gave a bad rating for a well-known restaurant 7 years ago.
But that was 7 years ago. It's possible they have added or changed somethings there.
