It's a download manager for linux but it recognises and offers to download yt videos. It works very well.

There's no one streaming dl app that will always work, the streaming sites don't link users dl'ing their stuff so they constantly change protocols. So I don't think you should restrict yourself to one or not use youtube-dl. Install several.
