I have an old, trusted, Epson Stylus Color 600 which has never failed to be recognised by any previous distribution of Mint or any other flavour of Linux. Gloria does not even see it, the setup dialogue seems more oriented towards Networked printers.
Any suggestions please?

Re: Parallel Printer on Gloria
Parallel printers are a thing of the past, it's been many years now when no motherboards have a parallel port
That said of course we should try to get your printer working
This thread in the Ubuntu forums sums it up
Begin by adding parport_pc to /etc/modules

Re: Parallel Printer on Gloria
Many thanks Husse the problem is sorted. It does, however, go against the grain to abandon a perfectly functioning printer just because it is old, I too am old and have very few friends left alive;-) So me and my trusty servant Epson will revert to Felicia where we are both able to work happily "Out of the box".

Glad you found a solution but sorry to see
I too am old and have very few friends left alive
But that's the thing with aging I suppose (I'm no youngster either)
