Mint 7 OpenOffice Splash Screens

Post by exploder »

I uploaded the original OpenOffice splash screen to the artwork site. Mint 7 does not have the restore splash screen feature and people might need these in the event they upgrade OpenOffice and forget to save the original splash screen. Here they are if you are in need of these.

Thanks, for accepting my comments !
I think it looks way cleaner now :)
I liked the way you made splashes a little bit more brighter, with "yellowy" green, it's cool :)
Thanks again ;)

I edited /etc/openoffice/sofficerc to change the progressbar because it was blue by default :

Code: Select all

[Bootstrap]
HideEula=1
Logo=1
ProgressBarColor=79,138,32
ProgressFrameColor=116,207,50
ProgressPosition=14,230
ProgressSize=412,7
Here is the result :

I believe this is now handled by mintSystem, which means it periodically checks to see if the splash-screens have been reverted, and resets them to mint if they have. This is enabled by default, but you can disable it in /etc/linuxmint/mintSystem.conf

Nice work Zwopper! The splash looks really nice! I missed the part in the release notes about the splash screens being restored.... Oh well, people using earlier versions of Mint might still want the newer artwork that I uploaded. Zwopper's version is sure to be popular!

Zwopper, there is a path to config file : /usr/lib/openoffice/program/sofficerc, but in it the first lines says :

Code: Select all

# *DO NOT* CHANGE THIS FILE. IT ONLY TAKES THE SETTINGS FROM
# /etc/openoffice/sofficerc. CHANGE THAT FILE IF YOU
# REALLY WANT TO CHANGE SOMETHING.
So that is why I edited the one in /etc folder !

And also think this should be default on mint ;)

I only get a black square with the progress bar running, any thoughts on this?

I had this problem, but I don't know what is the cause of this, but I solved it this way :

1. Go to : "/usr/lib/openoffice/program/sofficerc" if you have original splash screens.
or
1.1 Download original splashscreens from here http://www.linuxmint-art.org/content/sh ... ent=106436
1.2. Extract them to : "/usr/lib/openoffice/program/sofficerc" (I hope I writen this well :))

2. Open each picture in GIMP
3. Paste in GIMP your artwork over original
4. Save and test it

I hope this works !

That indeed looks very nice. Good work Zwopper. You should make one now for Gimp, as this would look a lot better than mine. Fits the whole Mint 7 theme 100%.

YAY - it worked, and I think I know why, the image is not supposed to have an alpha channel which it has, I have uploaded a new version. - Thank you! :D

Well I don't know about that, I think your GIMP splash is one of the best I've ever seen. 8)
I'll give it a try, and we'll see what I 'll come up with.

You could copy them to /usr/lib/linuxmint/mintSystem/service/resource and rename them.
Then mintSystem would keep using these, until it's updated.

hi guys, I realize that this is one-year old thread but I after I change the images they remain this way until the next reboot. Then the splash image returns to default. There is in this thread a mentioning about this but is not clear...so please, could someone explain how I can make these changes permanently?
