Missing print filter Canon IP2200 and Driver help

Tried installing my printer as finally need to use it. I have used the recommend drivers and keep getting the error "Missing print filter Cannon IP2200"

The Canon PIXMA iP220 appears to be unsupported by Gutenprint.

Gutenprint is the recommended driver that Linux comes up with and says that is has a driver for.

GutenPrint lacked filters, the Canon package is being a pain installing properly and a particular filter is constantly missing.

/cnijfilter-common-2.60/ has the PPD, installation files and pstocanonij file, the later being the filter that needs to install in CUPS and I'm have issues with.

/cnijfilter-common-2.60/ has the PPD, installation files and pstocanonij file, the later being the filter that needs to install in CUPS and I'm have issues with.

The PPD is actually in cnijfilter-ip2200series_2.60-5ubuntu4_i386.deb, which is years old and will not install on Mint. Canon do not seem to offer an up-to-date Debian package.

I'm thinking I had a problem with a Guten package and needed to install lsb for support (note that's LSB not ISB). I see the open printing site does reference lsb for install with the gutenprint package (page bottom).

lsb is not default bundled with Mint, but you can get it from the Application Manager, Synaptic, or from command prompt.
