Hello,
when I print a PDF file from Atril Document Viewer or Evince document viewer some characters are replaced by square boxes, but on screen it all looks OK. When I open that same PDF in Libreoffice 6.0 Draw and print it everything is OK. I tried it on two printers but it makes no difference. I'm using Mint 18.04.1
Thanks!
Damir

Re: Problem printing PDF file
Hello Damir and welcome to Linux Mint Forums.
PDF files can be difficult to print correctly. I use evince most of the time but that is not working for you. You may want to give Masterpdf a try. You can download it from https://code-industry.net/free-pdf-editor/ and install with gdebi.

Re: Problem printing PDF file
Thank you, kc1di
I'm glad I ran across your suggestions. I just installed Evince. I have just been trying it for a little while on some pdf files that kept failing to print correctly. So far, Evince has been working for me. I also wanted to say (for what it's worth) that I haven't seen this on any 32-bit version of Linux.
I am using Linux Mint version 18 - 64-bit on a desktop, and I am also running Debian Linux 9.60 - 64-bit on a laptop. They have both exhibiting this same problem. I haven't tried Evince on the laptop yet. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Re: Problem printing PDF file
I have been unable to print PDFs at all in linux mint 17.3. Tried xreader and evince. But just installed masterPDF and am able to print them.
Re: Problem printing PDF file
A work around for me was using the localhost:631 and deleting the printer and then reinstall. On my Brother printer had to reinstall from Printer under System menu because printer installer does not show under the localhost menu.
