Re: Inactive user names will be pruned
Always a good idea to get rid of spammers, but I'm posting here to make sure that I'm not "pruned".....
This is a great forum and it's well worth visiting on occasion! DR

Good idea Husse, Prune away. Excellent forum.
Looking forward to Mint 7 (versus Windows 7) bound to be better.

Re: Inactive user names will be pruned
I run a couple of phpbb boards and found this a great way of preventing spambots from registering.
Hope that helps.

Thanks markfiend
Right now we don't have much spam, I think that my pruning of inappropriate "inactive" user names (such as variations of buyonline) helps a lot
Never the less we had someone today that used the forum to send spam

Re: Inactive user names will be pruned
Well, I registered myself today and hope to be not pruned if I don't write anything from now on I mostly find solutions on the Ubuntu forum or here without asking... Maybe that should be taken into consideration?
Re: Inactive user names will be pruned
It's only those that never even clicked the link in the registration mail that is at risk
Re: Inactive user names will be pruned
No need for this any more - the spam stop during registration has stopped the bots and there are hardly any inactive user names any more

We must be married to the same woman or maybe I married your wife's sister! My wife told me the other day: How long ya gonna be a bump on the log and NOT get the yard done?Colonel Schell wrote:I am an 'inactive user.'
Just ask my wife and look at my yard! lol

SSShhhh... Don't bring this thread back to life. It might remind Husse that he hasn't deleted me yet.

But Fred - you are a really active user - don't know what your wife thinks though

Do you count logins, but no posts?
I often auto login to the forums, but only post if I have anything relevant to add...

Re: Inactive user names will be pruned
I think I have written this - in this sense an inactive user is one that has registered to the forum but never clicked the activation link in the activation mail sent by the forum
