So does Windwoes.
Horses for courses.
So does Windwoes.
Well, yes, but it still works. People wouldn't use it otherwise.
lol - yes. After using linux and having all the customisation options available, Windwoes is quite ugly and very ungainly.
Were those bugs during the second half of 2018 by any chance? I had one which screwed up the graphics display, couldn't even get a useable display in a TTY which is a real show-stopper unless I could have fixed it via chroot .. in fact, Manjaro has a rather easy-to-use tool for this .. "mhwd-chroot" .. I didn't bother in that case & reinstalled, preserving /home and /DATA partitions.Muscularwombats wrote: ↑Mon Mar 11, 2019 12:22 amManjaro unfortunately had 2 separate bugs on their main/stable repo that took down my system twice within a month (maybe two months).
...
Unfortunate as I really love the pacman package manager, as well as the amazing AUR
Two serious understatements there IMHO ..
Only because the mods would be on to me if I used the applicable expletives
Windwoes 10 deserves a thorough ridiculing... the installation process goes like this...
On the next screen you are forced to...Create a super memorable password
Make sure to pick something you'll absolutely remember.
On another screen you must deselect six options, including...Create security questions for this account
Just in case you forget your password, choose 3 questions, and make sure your answers are unforgettable.
Talk about invasive. And the gobbledegook. How they can class what sites I visit or products I view as 'diagnostic' is beyond me.Tailored experiences

Linus Torvalds mentioned something like this in a Q&A session (DebConf 14?) on the reasons why Linux has not overtaken the desktop yet (and probably never will).
Mint really goes a long way to fixing this problem, and I, personally think, that Mint is ready for Prime Time. I remember the agony in Mandrake of trying to find (and understand) what I needed to load a program, and make it work. What dependencies I needed, and where to go find them. It made me give up.mediclaser wrote: ↑Wed Mar 13, 2019 11:04 amLinus Torvalds mentioned something like this in a Q&A session (DebConf 14?) on the reasons why Linux has not overtaken the desktop yet (and probably never will).

I did not (and still do not) qualify as a hardened geek. I am a newbie and admit it. I am constantly in awe of you guys.catweazel wrote: ↑Thu Mar 14, 2019 6:46 amOnly the most hardened geek wouldn't walk away from thatMurphCID wrote: ↑Thu Mar 14, 2019 6:40 amMint really goes a long way to fixing this problem, and I, personally think, that Mint is ready for Prime Time. The only thing to be awed at is google-fu lol
Gimp is plenty good enough to replace photoshop.

If you must rely on bits of fruit, you deserve what you get. (FWIW, SWMBO has a couple of bits of fruit and neither of them rely on iTunes to talk to any computers in our home.

This is very true. Of course my photo editing skills is very basic, but GIMP lets me do everything I did with Photoshop:
