NTFS Partition is Not Auto Mounting on Restart

Post by Kendoori » Wed Apr 10, 2019 8:35 am

I have a dual-boot 19.1 system with Cinnamon. Recently I added a new partition that's formatted as NTFS. When I reboot the partition is not getting auto mounted, although initially, it did. If I click on the partition in Nemo, it loads right away.

This is what shows in Disks; however, if I look at the drive after it's actually mounted it's here: /media/kenny/GTeamDrive

Best to keep this as NTFS for now, but I will convert if necessary.

Hi Kendoori,

NTFS Partition does not activate even with automount, until clicking drive in file manager - Linux Mint Forums

Hope this helps ...

Might be better if you automount through your fstab (lives in /etc, has to be edited as root). These are the entries for mine:

Code: Select all

# mount point for windows D:
UUID=1A7C80714BFAF6B2 /home/andy/data           ntfs    windows_names,auto,users,uid=1000,gid=1000,noatime        0       2
# mount point for windows C:
UUID=40E45A0AE45A0298 /home/andy/win10           ntfs    windows_names,auto,users,uid=1000,gid=1000,noatime        0       2
You can choose to mount the windows partitions wherever you like, I've chosen /home/andy/data for my d: drive to share data.
You find out the UUIDs by typing blkid in a terminal.

Changed the mount point to match the actual mount point and now works properly.
