Hi rushilotti,

Welcome to the wonderful world of Linux Mint and its excellent forum!

You can use Google Calendar and its tasks scheduler in both Android and Linux. There are many applications and applets and desklets and other "indicator" apps for doing this in Linux and on Android and other platforms.

"RedNotebook" might be another option as well, not sure if it has an Android version though.

Hope this helps ...

Hi rushilotti,

If you use a good Google password, you should be secure. It is also a good idea to change your passwords every now and then, like at least twice a year. Although Google may use some information for targeted ads, I do not think they use any information in some nefarious way.

FYI: There are many Calendar and task applications that can access and sync with Google Calendars and tasks for all computer platforms and smartphones and tablets. There are also many calendar and task file formats (icalender, ical) that many different applications can use.

One to consider for the desktop is MineTime. https://minetime.ai/

It works with Google Calendar, Outlook.com, Microsoft Exchange, iCloud and any CalDAV service. The only thing missing is an Android app, but I have not found it to be an obstacle. I have calendars from a few sources; the calendar app I use plays nice with all of them, and MineTime plays nice with the sources and the calendar app.

I have been using MineTime for several months, and for the most part I have been pleased. It is available as both a 64-bit .DEB and an AppImage.

I use the AppImage, and it runs well on my antique system. I started with the AppImage because it gave the the opportunity to take MineTime for a test drive without the bother of installing it. I stuck with the AppImage because it works so well I have no incentive to change.

The AppImage and other releases is in the "Universal AppImage and other platforms" link. You can go directly to it here.
The current release is MineTime-1.5.1-x86_64.AppImage

Download the file, make it executable, and run.
