Manufacturer supported scanner?

Post by Relative »

Are there ANY scanner models FULLY SUPPORTED by a manufacturer? By that I mean ALL features that are supported under Windows. No workarounds or third-party software - not Sane or Xsane...and will fully support if called for a problem.

Lenovo T430, Lenovo L430, Dell N7110, Toshiba A215, Fujitsu C2220, Dell Inspiron 8600, Raspberry pi 3b+ and pi 4, Old home-built P4 desktop and recently rescued a MacBook 2,1 with Mint Cinnamon 19.3 and MacBook Pro2,1 with same 64-bit software.

That is a question that you should put to the manufacturers.

As far as I know, all manufacturers expect their products to work with all major operating systems and they provide drivers to ensure that happens. When you consider the number of hardware configurations that exist in computer ownership that really is no mean feat. No two computers are alike.

Also consider that most computers are sold with a Windows system pre-installed and added peripherals regardless of manufacturer MUST work in harmony with that system or the manufacturer goes out of business.

You cannot expect manufacturers to hold your hand if you leave the beaten path and want to use another operating system.

As a user of a Linux system you are a pioneer.

the closest thing, that you could get - - is something made by HP
- an All-in-One for example.

but, even those AIOs are not exactly bullet-proof, either.
