FYI
Just noticed this the other day
openoffice still runs fine....
Happens every reboot and start of OO in Mint
Ubuntu 9 does not have this issue.
Running ps ax in terminal
3805 pts/1 Ss 0:00 bash
3820 ? Z 0:00 [ooffice] <defunct>
3833 ? Sl 0:02 /usr/lib/openoffice/program/soffice.bin -writer -spla
3846 pts/1 R+ 0:00 ps ax
Haven't dealt with zombies in awhile.....
Of course kill -9 doesn't work with these guys
Not a critical issue just thought someone would like to know. !?

if I open OO
I wonder - could it have to do with he splash?
We both got -writer -spla which of course should have been -splash
I don't find it in top so I would not worry to much
