Cannot see the menu button

Post by LostAndDazed »

Hi, OK, all my fault, but I have a laptop in a headless installation and I forgot to configure the external monitor as the main one and also turn off the laptop screen. I have plugged in an external monitor I(can't see the laptop screen) and have a nice Mint logo and no way of accessing the Menu -button (lower left corner) for Setup+Display to change it.

Did some searching and found stuff to try mdm, MDM, LightDM and xrandr but nothing I could find to help assign this monitor. I can get the terminal/cli on this screen but that's all. How is the Setup or Display Manager launched via the CLI?

ETA: Or mirror the laptop screen to the external so I can access the Menu.

Thanks

If the command startx does not work for you try sudo service lightdm start
Linux Mint 21.3 Cinnamon
