Lenovo Y570 Laptop wifi doesn't work

Post by kleinersilver »

1. I have installed mint 19.1 in my Lenovo Y570 laptop. The installation process went smoothly.

Problem:
1. I have two wireless adapter. One is PCI adapter comes with the laptop, and the other is one I bought from ebay which says it support linux.

2. I have searched in the forum for lenovo ideapad for some easy fixes. And it worked for a few hours, the usb adapter is working for a few hours.

3. After a few hours' usage and I reboot the system. The wifi down again.

4. I reinstall mint, and follow the actions in the post I searched, but this time it won't work.(viewtopic.php?t=283362)

5. Could anyone help me please? I am satisfied with just getting my laptop connected to the internet with wifi. PCI or USB adapter are both fine.

I forget to mention:

1. I could see wifi adapter in the right corner of task bar of mint desktop. However, they are both unavailable.

2. I could get access from a cable to internet from the laptop which mint is installed in.

3. Please let me know if you need any other information.

That laptop is likely too old for that to fix it

...oops, yes... :?
(btw, hopefully not going out of topic, i was literally flabbergasted when i saw your last commit there & how much it simplified things...)

kleinersilver, could you try resetting the bios to it's defaults? (some very older threads, Z570, Y570)...

Hi Jeremy:

I have cloned the program from git into my laptop and run the script.

It worked for one time. But after I use the laptop(install chrome and vscode) for a while and reboot, wifi went down again(Not any SSID showing), totally unavailable.

I plan to reinstall mint and try my luck again.
