updated Mint version for laptops
Have a Toshiba Satellite P205DS7802 lap top. Will not load or run any thing above Mint 18. Is there going to be a newer version to run on lap tops. 19 works perfect on a desk top.

Re: updated version for lap tops
LM 19.x runs just fine on laptops, but perhaps maybe not on something as old as what you have. Per above, post the output of
inxi -Fxz
so that others can assess the details of what you're working with. What desktop version are you attempting to install? For that era of hardware, I'd recommend an Xfce version.
Lastly, know that LM 18.3 is still supported until April 2021, so perhaps sticking with what works for you now is a viable option.

Re: updated version for laptops
Yes, posting spec from $ inxi -Fxz is always helpful.
You might also download and try Peppermint Linux, lightweight O/S, and run it in liveSession to see if you like it better than Mint18.3. Peppermint have good review from many on this forum. From the published spec for the Satellite, even Mint18.3 is going to be sluggish.

Re: updated version for laptops
As mentioned, your situation has nothing to do with whether it's a laptop or a desktop, it's the age of that laptop. I'm guessing it may be 10 years old, but, yes, inxi output would help.
Hoping that a new Linux release will fix compatibility problems with old machines is a dead end. New kernel releases are updated for new harware. They're much more likely to break old machines than fix them.

Will try to download and install Peppermint and see if it works properly.
