{SOLVED] hp probook 670B HD upgrade

Post by tgwilt »

Hello all,

It's around 96 degrees F (that's around 34 C or so). On to the question. I recently purchased an HP Probook 670B laptop with Mint pre-installed. It works very well and I would recommend it to anyone who wants a laptop that has Mint pre-installed.

The only problem is that I am running out of disk space. Now I know I could just purchase an external high camacity USB drive, but I would like to upgrade the internal HD instead. does anyone know if this drive is compatible with the laptop?

Samsung 860 QVO 1TB 2.5 Inch SATA III Internal SSD (MZ-76Q1T0B/AM)

Here is the ouptut of inxi -F

Should work, biggest problem on these 2.5" HDD replacement is the thickness of the HDD and HP spec 9.5mm and both the Samsung 850 and the Samsung 860 QVO are 6.8mm so it will fit. Link to service manual.

Another option is to see if this laptop have a DVD 2.5" HDD adapter, so you can replace the DVD with a HDD/SSD.

You are welcome. Always need a service manual for any PC you own, kind of like having owner manual for cars.
