Wifi Drops Constantly

Post by expalphalog » Sat Jul 20, 2019 12:22 pm

I posted a thread a long while back but nobody ever responded. Trying again because the situation has gotten worse. My connection now drops roughly every 20 seconds (1). Unplugging my adapter and replugging it back in allows me to reconnect, but then less than a minute later - boom. Disconnected. I have (2) replaced the router. I have replaced the adapter. All firmware is updated. Ipv6 is turned off. Power Saving = 2. My computer is the only device in the house being affected by this.

This is driving me crazy. Please (3) help.

I had installed the driver in the past, but I forgot about the warning not to update the kernel. Followed all instructions again. So far I have been online about two minutes. Hopefully I stay that way. Thank you!

Nope. It definitely got better since I have only disconnected twice in the half hour since my last post though.

I have read somewhere that band steering can cause issues, so I am going to turn off the 5ghz network on my router and see if that has any effect.

Did you disable Secure Boot? I wonder too if it might be a kernel issue, but I don't know.

I have not disconnected once since I turned off the 5GHz networks on my router. I can't believe it was that simple.

Well, maybe so, that plus whatever else. 8)
