Do you have plans to add support for installing updates during the installation of the OS?

Will I can beta version update up to stable release in the future, or it needs to reinstall?

You will be able to go from the beta to the stable release by just applying updates. No reinstall needed.

19.2 Beta Cinnamon won't boot

Post by Peter Linu » Sat Jul 27, 2019 7:15 pm
I turn on and get a message: unable to launch "cinnamon-session-cinnamon X session. "cinnamon-session-cinnamon" not found. Falling back to default session.
Okay.

'Okay' is the only option. I press it, the screen goes blank except I can see and move the mouse. I am currently going through Lenovo diagnostics.

It is the only O/S on the laptop.

HELP !!!

Peter, it's a beta. It's released for testing purposes. You install it at your own risk; for that reason, it's not recommended to install it on the machine that you are using on a daily basis and depend on. There is no support to help people with issues; they are expected to fix them themselves, or if they can't and it's a new bug, to make a bug report following the advice from Karlchen here. viewtopic.php?f=46&t=298573&p=1663671#p1663678

Also, this is an announcement post, and as such not the place for support no matter what. Sorry that I can't be of more help. You may want to go back to 19.1 for now.

I think the error message is clear enough - you uninstalled or otherwise made unavailable (parts of) your desktop environment. As Moem suggested, maybe you shouldn't be running beta software if you struggle with the basics and stick to the release version for now.

As it turned out, I have a friend who is an IT professional. He managed to restore my computer and found that the problem was VirtualBox. I uninstalled VB and the computer returned to normal.
I can't help wondering why the Cinnamon team wouldn't be interested in knowing that fact.

No one said that, because it's not the case... and you've been informed on how and where to let them know. Looks like we're done here.
