increase symbold and text size for one display?

Post by Arp »

Hi,

I have one 4k display as my main display, and two 1920x1080 displays besides it. Now, on the main display texts and icons are really small ... Is there a way to increase this size? And if yes, only on this display? Because I imagine that if I increase it, the sizes on the other displays will be huge.

Thx.

Well, I only know about this, for Cinnamon:

(item 3.10)

But I don't know whether this can be made display-specific....

But that apparently only increases font and cursor, nut icon sizes.

I just found the user interface scaling, which allows you to set it to high, so symbols are regular sized. Although that only works for the entire desktop, not screen specific. And the minimize, maximize, and close icons remain really small :D

I found something. You can set the general scaling to High DPI, that increases everything in size. Now the interface looks very nice on 4k, but way too big on the two 1080p screens.

Now, you can use

Code: Select all

xrandr --output HDMI-1 --scale 2x2
to reduce the scaling to half for the specific display.

But now the problem is, that basically half of my 4k monitor in the center is also on the 1080p on the left...

More of a workaround than a solution, but depending on what application is on each of the screens, like a web browser, you can adjust the scaling in that application, as opposed to changing it globally. CTRL + and CTRL - are often the keystrokes to do so.

In the case of firefox, this only scales text, but not buttons.

The xrandr solutions works, but every after reboot, the displays are messed up....
