Except that our drop bears are far more ferocious.

Best excuse for drunk driving I've read in a while.
Re: If you've never heard of a Drop Bear
I live in Oregon and there are many unfortunate incidents between deer and elk and motor vehicles. Most of the time the deer pay the price. Unfortunately some times so do humans. Never heard of a a bear jumping out of trees. We do have a salvage law, waste not want not.

Can't salvage results of a dropping bear and motor vehicle interaction. Maybe it should cover bears jumping out of trees. Bear sausage is pretty tasty.

Re: If you've never heard of a Drop Bear
I thought drop-bears were an Australian species. I did have a deer nearly knock me off my bicycle when cycling through California years ago. As for road kill, dead possums are common here but I can't stand the taste of rubber so leave where they lie.
When I mentioned to a ranger in Australia that finding a possum licking my plate after dinner and I realised I'd better be polite to it and not kill it as I would of here she reprimanded me for even thinking of it (killing it). They are a noxious animal here, same as rabbits - and planes landing on the roads (see other thread).

I've heard of Drop-D tuning, but Drop Bears? Wow.
Hopefully they catch him. Frigging hit-and-run bears.

Never.
Never heard of it, but I live in Europe.
Wikipedia states:

Wikipedia states:
A drop bear (sometimes dropbear) is a hoax in contemporary Australian folklore featuring a predatory, carnivorous version of the koala (Phascolarctos cinereus). This imaginary animal is commonly spoken about in tall tales designed to scare tourists.

Re: If you've never heard of a Drop Bear
As always, Google to the rescue. The first link shows we NZers (in the North or South Island) should stay away from those foreigners living in the West Island. The second link leads one to wonder and the third link? Well....
Drop Bear

I shouldn't include this one -

Re: If you've never heard of a Drop Bear
That Australian Museum link must have been the subject of a drop bear attack, all I get is "504 Gateway Time-out, nginx/1.14.0 (Ubuntu)" I always thought that Drop Bears were uniquely Australian, too. Obviously, we were all wrong!
Edit: Link working again......

Re: If you've never heard of a Drop Bear
Most definitely, as that YouTube says, "Vicious drop bear attack in South Australia." Hang on, South Australia? That's just up your street isn't it?
I'd be careful if I were you, about going out your front door.
Our only vicious thing is a kea, a parrot with a sense of humour - be careful about who sees the joke..... (obviously no one in the northern hemisphere...sees the joke that is)
Re: If you've never heard of a Drop Bear
Yeah! We get 'em all the time down here, just never bother reporting them.

Re: If you've never heard of a Drop Bear
Australia is home to many dangerous creatures but the most feared of all is the Dropbear. It is said rubbing Vegemite on your arms and especially your face offers some protection...but they seem to like Vegemite and your face is the first thing they go for.
Most Aussies would rather take their chances with a Great White than a Dropbear any day...at least with a Great White you can sometimes get away.

Re: If you've never heard of a Drop Bear
Actually, it's the kadaitcha man that is truly the most feared. And for good reason.
