Hello community,
there is a known issue with cups 2.2.7 and chromium-based browser. The cups version 2.2.7 is the default one of LM 19.x.
https://bugs.chromium.org/p/chromium/is ... ?id=872772
https://github.com/apple/cups/issues/52 ... -381729835
If you are in http://localhost:631 and want to add a new printer, you have to authentificate with your user and password, but the authentification window doesn't appear. I know, it works probable with cups 2.2.8 and for sure with 2.2.10. (I also know, that it works with Firefox and version 2.2.7)
I don't know, how to reach the linuxmint developers to ask directly and so I do it here:
Is it possible for linuxmint to make an official update for cups? Or is there a recommended and save way to update it otherwise not to get in trouble with other system parts and/or loosing functional printing?

Re: Cups 2.2.7 and chromium-based browsers
Reports suggest this has been fixed in cups 2.2.8. Hopefully this will appear in Ubuntu repositories soon and will be available in Update Manager..

Hello Terryphi,
it seems, we are the only users, who use a chromium-based browser

Hello HAWR,
I'm sure there are others too. I mainly use Firefox but I am particularly impressed at present with Vivaldi although it does not provide the same fine cookie control I like in Firefox. Also, I have always been impressed by its founder, Jon von Tetzchner , way back to the good old days of 1996 when the original Opera browser led the way in browser development with features later copied by Firefox.

Hello Terryphi,
then let's hand shake. I'm using Vivaldi for a longer time and used the old opera before (and I use opera until now as my mail program). I'm very satisfied with Vivaldi
