I found a Displaylink USB Monitor that works well with 19.2

Post by Kendoori »

I was looking for a secondary monitor for use with messaging apps, and wanted something that would work with USB and not require HDMI. DisplayLink devices were previously iffy with Linux, but the newer kernels make them usable. I had been looking for input on this to no avail, so am sharing in case this is of interest to anyone else.

Here's what I bought on Amazon https://amzn.to/31QI1R5

I need to download a driver from AOC, but after a reboot, it just worked. It has a built-in kickstand and just requires a USB cable.

Thanks for your contribution: I have also searched for an external small monitor - but obviously asked the wrong questions to the search engine...

Thank you Kendoori for sharing!
Did you install any driver/software for displaylink itself?

My Mint (19.3) sees everything on my D3000, (usb, lan, usb audio headset), except my hdmi dell monitor...

I don't have the device anymore, but I am nearly positive that I installed the drivers here: https://www.displaylink.com/downloads/ubuntu
