NAS password[SOLVED]

I have a Synology NAS on my network where I store a lot of useful and nescessary information. Now from Networks in Linux when I click on the NAS it asks me for my username, which is not a problem and then the password, which is complicated. Now in the box it does have a check box to remember this password which I checked and then opened my NAS. However, when I next go to access it I still have to enter name and password. Why are you given this choice but it does not activate it?

If you access it using FTP, then you can set a password that will stick. Open your file manager, click on File, look for something about opening a server. If you can connect in that way, you can also set it as a "bookmark" in the file manager and just clk on it when opening it.

No I am using it on my local network via IP address, 192.168.1.*** and the NAS is clearly shown in the file browser as part of my network. I can use ftp but currently logging on via my local network. Can't see why it will not retain the user and password when offered when logging into it via LN.. Are you saying using the connection via local network I cannot retain the login info? As I said I can login to the NAS via ftp using browser or ftp client.

Maybe the saved password got discombobulated.

Open Passwords and Keys ( seahorse ) , find your saved password for the share and delete it:

Then save it again when you access the share.

Regarding this altair I could not find that in the system. I am using LM MATE 19.2.

If I can sort this out I'll mark this as solved.

If people don't specity this in their question I always assume they are running Cinnamon.

Anyhoo, if it not there install it:

It's in the menu somewhere or you can just run seahorse from the terminal

Glad the FTP worked for you. I also use MATE, and find it the easiest when using the caja file manager. Doing "shares" involves Samba, and it has a few more stumbling blocks at times to get past.

Not sure what you are talking about there. Does that mean you have to do a dance to use it! You will have to be a bit more explicit for me to understand that.

"caja" is the name of program that runs the file manager. If you were in Terminal, typed in caja and hit enter, it opens the file manager.
