Okay. Step one complete. Now run the udevadm monitor --kernel --property --subsystem-match=usb command again, and plug in a USB drive, and we'll find something similarly unique to add for those.

Okay, I think this will work. Modify the .rules to this:

Code: Select all

ACTION=="bind", DRIVER=="usbfs", ENV{XAUTHORITY}="/home/zaileion/.Xauthority", RUN+="/usr/local/bin/99-deviceconnected.sh"
ACTION=="bind", DRIVER=="usb-storage", ENV{XAUTHORITY}="/home/zaileion/.Xauthority", RUN+="/usr/local/bin/99-deviceconnected.sh"

damn dude it works! Plus i learned to how to create udev rules. You rock! Linux Mint forums have some of the best Linux support online. I have more luck here resolving issues than on any other forum.

I really hope Linux Mint will be around for a long time to come! Just a remarkable distro. Mate need some work, and 19.2 is still a little under par but Linux Mint even in the face of internal difficulties still manages to produce exceptional support and products! I just don't know how everyone manages to do it, year after year distro after distro, question after question Linux Mint manages to do what seems to be the impossible...

Absolutely superb!

Thank you MrEen! Very Much!

and...

Thank you Linux Mint for making my computer better than anyone else. Everyone that sees remarks how awesome it is!!

I'm so glad everything worked out!

Like you, I also learned how to craft udev rules due to this thread. So everybody wins! :D

Take care!

I'd still like to the Cinnamon system sound applet ported to the other desktop environments.
