Aol server or aol (AIM) IM/messenger application
For aol server, it is in repository..
In Terminal
  • apt search aol
    p aolserver4 - AOL Web Server 4 (Program)
Aol AIM
Either one *.deb ot *.tgz might work, simple install..
http://dashboard.aim.com/aim
http://www.aim.com/get_aim/linux/latest_linux.adp
  • Installation Instructions for Debian 3+
    1. Download AIM onto your system.
    2. Log in as root.
    3. On the command line, type the dpkg command as shown in the example: dpkg -i aim_1.5.286-2_i386.deb where 1.5.286-2 represents the AIM version and release numbers.
    4. To run AIM, log in as a regular user, and type "/usr/bin/aim" on the command line.

Installation Instructions for TGZ (All other OS) for 1.5.234
    1. Log in as root.
    2. cd /
    3. Download AIM onto your system.
    4. On the command line, type gunzip command as shown in the example: gunzip -c aim-1.5.234-1.i386.tgz | tar xvf -, where 1.5.234-1 represents the AIM version and release numbers.
    5. To run AIM, log in as a regular user, and type "/usr/local/bin/aim" on the command line.
I prefer to use web based non client installed instant messengers, like Meebo.com

I am trying to think of something AOL does well...

Insanity: Doing the same thing over and over and each time expecting a different result.

Democracy is 2 wolves and a lamb voting on the menu. Liberty is an armed lamb protesting the electoral outcome. A Republic negates the need for an armed protest.

Pidgin supports AIM no? I don't personally use it but I hear it works fine.
