WiFi not working in Linux mint 18.3 Dell E6510

Post by deexit »

Hello Dear
I am using Linux mint 18.3 and in my Dell E6510 laptop.

My problem was that when I start my laptop so wifi was not starting so I can do on-off wifi many times if this is not starting after some time waiting. so I do run service network-manager restart wifi this command In the terminal or restart my system. After doing this process much time this is working sometimes and sometimes not.

Actually I don't Know when my wifi was working fine. I think when my laptop takes hit, then wifi-enabled else not working.

I do struggle with this issue is there any solution to this problem so please help me.

Here I write some network configuration of my laptop if you need more information so please tell me I will post.

I can confirm that your wifi card, Intel Centrino Advanced-N + WiMAX 6250, works perfectly in mint 18.3, as I have that card in a Thinkpad. Barring a real hardware issue, my only thought is: did you check your wifi switch? Most of the e6xxx latitudes have an actual hardware switch to turn of the wifi. This happened to me once on my latitude e6530--the switch got changed accidently when picking up and moving the laptop.

You can confirm if it's turned off by a switch with this command in a terminal.

Code: Select all

rfkill list all
Post the output here.
Intel wireless chipsets are well supported by the Linux kernel.

Try

Code: Select all

sudo sed -i 's/wifi.powersave = 3/wifi.powersave = 2/' /etc/NetworkManager/conf.d/default-wifi-powersave-on.conf
echo "options iwlwifi 11n_disable=8" | sudo tee /etc/modprobe.d/iwlopts.conf
Reboot
If that doesn't work

Code: Select all

wget -N -t 5 -T 10 https://github.com/UbuntuForums/wireless-info/raw/master/wireless-info && chmod +x wireless-info && ./wireless-info
cat wireless-info.txt | nc termbin.com 9999
Post termbin URL from terminal
