Peaq Slim S130 - Wireless Intel AC 3165 not detected

Post by Fabri8686 »

Hello !

I've tried with Ubuntu, Mint and Elementary, with no success. Since this laptop doesn't have an RJ45 adapter, I can only access internet via bluetooth with my smartphone as a bluetooth-internet bridge.

Peaq S130 Slim is a N4000 + 4 gb ram DDR4, micro SD slot, no RJ45...

Is there a fix or a command that can solve this issue ? Thanks !

Fabrice

you should also be able to 'Hot Spot' with the usb / power cable - as well as using that Bluetooth method.

As to your wireless card, Intel put this out (https://www.intel.com/content/dam/www/p ... -brief.pdf) stating, "most features not available on Linux." Know that's not what you want to hear. =(

Don't know if this helps at all, but here is a download list of drivers for the card, but all are for Windows OS's (https://downloadcenter.intel.com/produc ... -AC%203165).

It also appears someone on the Germany Ubuntu forum (https://forum.ubuntuusers.de/topic/wlan ... avour=full) has a similar question which, if you can find a translator might be helpful.

Sorry, not much help! =(

Run these 2 commands in terminal and post termbin URL when the second command is done

Code: Select all

wget -N -t 5 -T 10 https://github.com/UbuntuForums/wireless-info/raw/master/wireless-info && chmod +x wireless-info && ./wireless-info
cat wireless-info.txt | nc termbin.com 9999

First of all thank you for your replies and sorry for the delay in answering back. I had to format the laptop and here I am again on the thread. I removed Mint and tried with Ubuntu 18.04. I was able to use my smartphone for internet access and quick updates.

I have also downloaded the driver package from Intel for AC 3165 wireless and was able to copy it into /lib/firmware . However the wifi device remains undetected.

I will try the commands listed above and copy and paste it here.

[*]is there another linux distro that would include automatic driver support for this device and similar models ?

Is wifi enabled in BIOS settings? Have you tried resetting BIOS to defaults?

Does it matter if you disable secure boot?

Hello,

The computer boots in insecure mode, and yes I have reseted bios, I do have the possibility to buy a wifi usb key but I already use one USB port for the mouse, and there is only one other usb port. The built in wifi is working fine on win10 but I cant seem to find a way to install the drivers even though the iwlwifi7265-ucode-25 coming from Intel is copied in /lib/firmware

The info you posted says secure boot is on:

##### secure boot #######################

SecureBoot enabled

Is WLAN disabled in BIOS as Linux Mint isn't detecting the wifi at all, reminds me of what happens when I disable WLAN on my Lenovo

Hello,

I tried but nothing happened. Since the laptop is based on Lenovo (Peaq is mediamarkt + Lenovo) I think there could be a solution... but the wifi driver i downloaded on intel and copied in the /bin/firmware is not installed I guess. I dont know what command to use to make sure they re installed. I got 2 files : iwlwifi-7265-14.ucode and iwlwifi-7265D-14.ucode

Hello, I connected a USB Zyxel wifi key, checked additionnal driver, recognized but somehow the OS will not detect it as a wifi device. Is new beta 20.04 more likely to provide support for wifi devices ? 😣
