Mint background gift from a new forum member

Post by chuckles »

Hi folks.

I just recently started using Linux Mint, just signed up here today, and I offer a gift in the form of a background I created based on the extruded logo look of a few of the stock backgrounds.

Created with Blender 2.8.

Full-size (1366x768 - 158.6 kB): https://i.postimg.cc/W4xhdCMy/lm-shattered.png

Nice. The only problem is, that logo is now obsolete.

That's the new logo.

Are my eyes bugging out, or does the green part "spin"?

It must be your eyes.

LOL! How'd you know I wear glasses?

On a side note, went to look at the Alpha Monocerotid meteor shower moments ago. Fully overcast here.

But if there's no movement in that gif, maybe I should have stayed out there after all.

Nice. So, where can I download the version of Mint that comes with that logo? As far as I can tell, the version I'm using still has the same logo.

It does spin or shimmer somewhat.

Moem,

I realize I'm a noob and it's not my place to say, but don't you realize that logo in your sig line is obsolete?

And you a moderator. I'm embarrassed for you

I'm sure I'll be given an updated version in due time.

Linux Mint 19.3 will have the new logo. 19.3 is currently in Beta though so I wouldn't recommend using it unless you are willing to deal with the bugs and file the bug reports. There's an entry on the LM home page where you can find out more about what's new in 19.3 and about the new logo.

Had to kick in...the new logo is boring-looking.

I also liked the Old logo better :)
But it's no big deal to me.
19.3 runs wonderfully on my hardware and I'm already enjoying it :)

I don't use this logo anyway. My desktop is Jennifer Aniston

The "green" background in the new logo "spins" on my computers, but it still sucks anyway. I like the background offered, thank you and welcome to the forum.

I don't see that version of the logo anywhere in the 19.3 release. Huh.

Yep. It is an option there. But, given all of the versions I've found I'm hesitant to call that one 'the' new logo. Definitely is one of them, though.

BTW... when looking for that icon the outer ring blends right in with the background, in case anyone else looks.
