Unable to connect using Wifi

I have recently installed Linux on my laptop. I have been trying unsuccessfully to connect to the internet via WiFi.
I have logged in as root using the command /usr/sbin/wifi-radar.
I get the message "ValueError: too many values to unpack".
Can anyone suggest a solution to this problem?

My Dell has LM 18.3 Cinnamon, which works fine using Network Manager!
Same laptop, save hard drive, with LM 18.3 Mate, cannot connect using Wifi.
LM 18.3 Mate doesn't have Network Manager, so I cannot connect to wifi.

Hello ichido,

because you have another wifi card and issue as in this thread, it's better to open an own one with your informations from above. If you can't use your wired ethernet connection, you can get a temporarily internet connection with a mobile phone and USB tethering using the phone's wifi. Then you can make your updates in between and open the new thread

USB Tethering Android

1. connect your phone to your computer via USB (your phone charger hopefully has a usable, detachable USB cable)
2. go to Settings > Wireless & Networks in your mobile phone, there to ...More
3. go to tethering & mobile hotspot
4. activate USB tethering

USB Tethering Iphone

1. connect your phone to your computer via USB (your phone charger hopefully has a usable, detachable USB cable)
2. go to Settings > Personal Hotspot > Activate in your phone
3. activate USB only
