Re: upgrade sudo to last version
Hi, ckonn.
No problem, in the same way as all software gets updated to the most recent version, which is available in the official software repositories: via Update Manager.
With respect to sudo, the update happened only yesterday:
And my machine is really old, 10 years.
HTH,
Karl

First of all: why are you trying to patch an insecure derelict?

Re: upgrade sudo to last version
for many reasons.
1 - have spend so much time to make a lot of individual settings and customizations
2 - not sure that the last mint version will run hassle-free on a specific hardware
3 - if it works, don't fix it!

Those are only good reasons if you never connect that machine to the internet. If you do connect it to the internet, it's a sure recipe for disaster.

1) Take your existing home along to the next version, and your customizations will follow you.
2) Try it out from a live medium, and you will know.
3) You can't say that your current system is working. For one, it can't be updated.

Re: upgrade sudo to last version
Doesn't matter. You're still extremely vulnerable in several ways.
Get wise. Upgrade to a supported Mint version.

Re: upgrade sudo to last version
On Linux Mint releases, which have passed the end of their supported lives, you will very likely have to get the most recent sudo source code and compile + link the executable file yourself.
Whether this is going to be simple or difficult or impossible will depend on the age of your un-supported Linux Mint release.
Reason:
As a rule Linux Mint executable files will make use of shared libraries. These libraries are outdated on your system.
As a consequence there is no way of foretelling whether the sudo programme file, which you create by compiling and linking the most recent sudo source code, will be compatible with the shared libraries, which it will find on your system.
