Card reader [SOLVED]

Recently my Roswell card reader no longer works, the USB port in the reader works fine, but cards will no longer work, it used to be like this, then an update got it working, now I assume an update trashed it. Anyone know the name of the package that runs this thing? I would like to try and downgrade.

Hmm lets try a odd experiment insert a USB drive than try inserting a card in the reader.

So this is a dead end, or my hardware is not working? Years ago it would not work either.

I bought another card reader and it works, so it was a hardware problem.
