I am so happy to be joining this wonderful LM community. It's like becoming part of a new family. I have read many forum posts and I can already see that you are kind to newbies like me! I've been programming, fixing, and building computers since the 1960s but Linux is new to me. I'm one of the Win7 refugees who refuses to go the way of WinX.
Anyway, I have a Garmin GPS. Wanted to get a program called Garmin Express, which I used in Win7 to update my device. There isn't a Linux version, so I tried using WINE to make it work. It didn't. Found Chris Titus's how-to advice on his website (and YouTube), tried to fumble through making a Wine bottle using the terminal commands (not afraid of the terminal at all) and... it didn't work, again. So I decided to uninstall it.
Now, the icon won't go away. The program isn't there, the Wine bottle directory was deleted, all gone. But on my start menu the Garmin Express icon shows up and when I click "Uninstall" on it, it just stays there. How do I make it go away? Couldn't find anything about this in the forums.
I'm not sure how to attach a thumbnail using that rimg thing up there, but I'm willing to share a screen shot if you need one and can tell me how to post one.
Thanks so much in advance. It's good to be here!
