LMDE 4 Final
Why is this available for download from https://www.linuxcompatible.org/story/l ... -released/ and not from the official Mint site (yet)?

Because the mirrors around the globe are still syncing. When complete, the official announcement is made, and evident on the LM website.DrTeeth wrote: ... and not from the official Mint site (yet)?

Thanks for your answer. It still does not look right when it appears elsewhere first. I think Mint should wait until it is available from official channels first before disseminating to other sites.

I agree with you.DrTeeth wrote: It still does not look right when it appears elsewhere first.
I see your point, but that's how the mirroring process works. Being responsible, Linux Mint doesn't make the official announcement until all the mirrors have synced. If some entity of less integrity decides to make an announcement on their own, it's certainly unfortunate, and makes them look bad.DrTeeth wrote: I think Mint should wait until it is available from official channels first before disseminating to other sites.

I wonder where they get their copy of the file if not from Mint itself?

Re: LMDE 4 Final
In the example you provided, that website isn't hosting the files themselves. If you look at the end of the article, all they're doing is posting links to other mirrors which have already synced.DrTeeth wrote: I wonder where they get their copy of the file if not from Mint itself?
As always, I suggest waiting for the official announcements to ensure that everyone is getting what's intended as intended.

What I didn't see was a gpg signature referral

Re: LMDE 4 Final
Another option is that we can all just wait for the official announcement so as to not interfere with the mirrors syncing from the source.
