You'll need to check out kde 4x operations for the desktop..

  • One major plus is that I can finally add icons to the desktop again. It's still a nuisance because, instead of simply placing icons on the desktop, I have to place them by using the right-click item menu. Folder View is still KDE 4's most important interface and I still dislike it. There's little Folder View can do that I hadn't done for ages with virtual desktops.
There is also the help and quickguides for the kde desktop, I don't know if it is installed or not..
--it is mentioned on the kde web site

Right-click the desktop -> Add Widget -> QuickLaunch -> Click Add Widget button.
You will be able to resize the widget, and add/remove icons. :D

Yes, please do, cause it sounds like a Plasma issue ???

EDIT: Oh, do you have "Unlock Widgets" ?

sirhoagy,
When you unlock the widgets, you will now have the Add Widgets choice, so no need for a screenshot . . as unlocking will do it! :D

Glad you got it working, you can do a lot of customizing, resizing on the widget even turn it into a docky !

It's called Plasma & the Plasma Dashboard . . . google it! :D
