Button on touchpad doesnt Work

Post by theevilone6620 »

Hey all I just got done installing Mint on my girls laptop, it is a HP notebook and has the standard touchpad mouse area at the bottom of the laptop. The touch sensor works fine and I can use it to contorl the mouse pointer, however, I cannot get the button that is located above it to disable it to work. The light on the button goes on and off when I press it but it does not disable the touchpad. As many probably no this is really annoying when you have a real mouse plugged in and are trying to type. Whenever you glide your hand over it to type you end up moving the cursor and messing up what you are typing. I have no idea were to start in trying to fix this, if anyone could help me that would be great.

Another thing, is that the button to turn the wifi card off and on does not work either. It is always displaying red, to indicate it is off, but the wifi works fine. Any help no these issues would be great.

If you need any info to help solve this let me know. As i said i have no idea where to start this is why i havent posted any output form the terminal

What's the exact model of your laptop?
I would browse the Ubuntu Forums and Community Documentation. Stuff for little specific things like that are sometimes really hard to find and Ubuntu has such a large user base that it's a lot more likely that they have a fix documented somewhere, plus Mint is so closely related to Ubuntu that any fixes they find work for us.

The notebook is a HP G60-23DX.

Ive checked over at the Ubuntu forums and can't seem to find any help at all.

If I could just find out what files need modified or, if its a driver issue, something to help me get stated. Like I said I have no idea were to start as Ive never dealt with this issue on my other laptops.

I can fix breakage and trouble if I no were to start but I have no idea on this one
