Finally made the jump to Mint, here's why!
Tuesday June 16th: After a recent Windows 10 update (number 2004) left me with NO Wi-Fi, NO function keys and NO touchpad, I'd had enough!
I put my head in my hands, what am I doing? This operating system is rubbish! I'm on the brink of a nervous breakdown! Over a laptop FFS!
Wednesday 17th: I find Linux Mint 19 on the web, Hmmm? free? How good can a free OS be?
Let's find out! Off to a mates house with a memory stick. Why a mates house you ask? Because Microsoft stuffed up my laptop yesterday! Come on, keep up!
1. Download Mint.
2. Make bootable USB stick (thank you YouTube app on my phone!)
3. Back to mine.
4. Install Mint 19 from the memory stick.
5. Put my head in my hands (yet again!) OMG, why didn't I switch to Linux sooner?'
Wednesday 24th: Mint 19.3 has been FLAWLESS. There's NO WAY I'm ever going back to Windows, OR anything made by Microsoft, ever!

Welcome Windows2Linux. You have made a great choice. I too have recently made the switch and have not looked back. I do keep a free Win10 virtual machine ready to go in VirtualBox, just for answering questions by family and friends.

Welcome to Linux.
I have been running it on different computers since 2003.
Latest is 19.3 on a Lenovo from Amazon but no CD/DVD.
The USB does not see my Track ball mouse which is disappointing. All other PC's did. Google said Windows PC's with W10 did not see a Track ball mouse.
I have to dig out the codes to figure out how to see what the USB ports see.
A question in another forum did not produce any answers.
Cheers.

I keep getting reminded of why I changed to LM every once in a while.
I have a 12 y/o Gateway Desktop with Win7 on it.....
the LTE wireless modem lost power recently, and good ole Win7 refused to release the IP address and accept a new one. Even though I have a batch file written up for precisely that purpose.... but no, it has to be Rebooted and start all over.
it took 25 minutes for that thing to shutdown, and then go thru the process of booting up again so that I could have the Desktop ready to work!!! And that is with 6gB RAM, 1tB HDD, 2.1 mHz CPU..... OMG, what a mess.
but it has to keep running for me, as I have a few Windows apps that I still need to get to, because no replacements in Linux have been made yet.
