[SOLVED] Why isn't Lutris in Software Manager?

Yes, I know you can link to the PPA and install it with apt-get (which I did). But I'd trust it more and feel more comfortable if it was available from the Software Manager. I know it's no big deal, but I'm just curious...

Mint comes with the most common applications that most people are going to want to have. Apparently the Mint devs didn't think Lutris falls in that category. I agree with them. I had never heard of it before and had to do a web search just to find out what it is. There may also be other reasons based on the desires of the Lutris devs.

Being in the official repo wont help. Lutris update's every few months, if it was in the repo you might get an update once a year.

The Lutris team officially maintains the Lutris ppa.

Also, Strider (main lutris dev) is a nice guy, and a pretty trustworthy guy in my opinion.

Anyways, as long as you use the official lutris ppa listed on lutris.net you should be fine.

So, one year later and we're in 2020 and Lutris is still not in the Software Manager, although it has become very popular I guess. Why?

This isn't windows, if you want lutris just install it.

I'm clearly old school, I still use PlayOnLinux. Lutris looks promising though for me to convert my gaming rig to Linux too in the near future. I'll have a read through their forums and see if any of my games are problematic with regards bans from multiplayer servers because of an unrecognised OS.

However, I do not see why Linux Mint should maintain a copy if the Lutris PPA is an official source for the program. The developers have enough on their plate already without repackaging something just because...

I doubt that Kutri is so popular as to merit in Mint repository.
