I would note there may be significant differences between our CPUs, I'm using an Athlon 300U and Ryzen 3, both despite the 'Athlon' brandings are Zen architecture and have Vega graphics. The A12 is older and maybe better supported?

I am going to test some live USB drives now....

Addendum:
I did test Chrome and installed the Google Earth app from the Software Manager - all do have the same problem, as I expected.
I have an AMD Navi 10 card (rx 5700). I'll give it a whack tomorrow.

My bad - I was going off of the title of this post.
Well, that's completely understandable - the title is a bit vague but I didn't know enough detail about the problem to word it any better. I hope you've got your AMD working ok now. :)

OK, not sure what I'd done but when you suggested using:

Code: Select all

AMD_DEBUG=nodmacopyimage
But I couldn't start xfwm4, it kept reverting to metacity.

However

Now I've done it and it's working. The only thing I've done differently is put the line in /etc/environment instead.
Seems to work ok, I need to do some more tests to be sure it doesn't have any negative effects on anything else I rely on. But thanks for helping with all this, it's really appreciated. :D

My bad. The fix was from Arch. Looks Debian/*buntu is a bit different.

I would keep the mesa kisak ppa for now. Eventually this bug will get patched in mesa and you will then receive it. Mint is unlikely to update mesa until 20.1.

I checked my home computer, and teh rx 5700 has no issues, so Navi is not affected. Older Carrizo/Bristol ridge chips use GCN next. My guess is that the bug affects Vega chips on APUs only. I haven't heard of issues with polaris, but anyone with an rx 500 can check.
