Wifi not showing an option for wireless connection. LM 20 Cinnamon 4.6.7

Post by diadcm »

Hello all, I'm new to Linux.I bought a cheap mini-PC and decided to try Linux. I was able to install the OS, but since then there's been no option for wireless connection. I've read a few other posts about this but it seems there isn't one clear answer. I'll post some information from the terminal that I saw was asked for in another post.

If secure boot is on, turn it off in Bios/Uefi. Check:

Code: Select all

 mokutil --sb-state

Please post the results for each of the following commands. Here is how:

Open a terminal window (Ctrl-Alt-t). Make it fullscreen to avoid unneeded linebreaks or chopped lines. Execute the following commands, one at a time.

Code: Select all

 iwconfig

Code: Select all

lsusb

Code: Select all

 lspci
Mark the complete text output which each command will display with your mouse.
Press the keyboard shortcut <Shift><Ctrl>C to copy the marked text into the clipboard.
Enclose the results for each command between the code markers by selecting </> from the mini toolbar above the textbox where you type your reply then paste <Ctrl>V them in your reply between the code markers.

The results will help us to help you.

You'll need to build the correct driver. Open a terminal and run each of the following commands, one line at a time.

Code: Select all

sudo apt install build-essential -y
mkdir -p ~/build
cd ~/build
sudo apt install git
git clone https://github.com/brektrou/rtl8821CU.git
cd rtl8821CU
make
sudo make install
