Re: will they make linux mint server?

I'm not sure there would be a large market for this - esp. since most people run a server, i.e. Ubuntu Server, headless (no GUI). But what would make all the sense in the world would be a Mint Media Server 8) Esp. with, say, a good HTPC frontend inspired my all the cool Mint artwork we have here in the forums and on http://www.linuxmint-art.org/.

Hmmmmm....

I am sure they could, except that they would then have to support it
--too many different distributions can stretch resources, even that they are very similar in their software and configurations..

And in that case will be up against Red Hat (in the USA, mainly) or Novell's Suse or Ubuntu, which has one already, and is no doubt trying to compete with Red Hat already..

Linux Mint is all about being easy to use and is targeted for people who aren't experienced with Linux. Making a Linux Mint server would be a move in the opposite direction, plus running servers on Linux Mint is no different than running a server on Ubuntu or Debian since everything is done via command line, which for servers is the better way to do things. I run a web, FTP, samba, ssh, and mySql server on my Linux Mint install and all you need is a command prompt window.
Also, creating a Linux Mint server would be splitting resources again which we don't really need.
