Painfully Slow Bootup and Firefox Launch

Post by arimakidd »

I'm using X-Cinnamon Desktop, 12 GB RAM and i5 processor and OS is Linux Mint 20 Ulyana. I am running a dual boot and Mint is on 0.5TB. Now for the painful stats.
To get to the login screen: 2 mins
To login : 54 seconds
For Firefox to open: 4 mins

Are these reasonable times? Here is the report I am supposed to post:

What can I do to increase boot time and Firefox launch time?

Does anyone know what the ~/.Private folder is for? It's taking up a large chunk of my drive? A listing looks like this:

drwxrwxr-x 2 arimakidd arimakidd 4096 Oct 17 2020 ECRYPTFS_FNEK_ENCRYPTED.FWajpVntIXukQ-TNAnE..AhsC87kvKN4SODR0Ku3DBywdCeINU-Qsd1Pk---

What is this stuff?

Looks like you might have encrypted your system. Show us the output of

Code: Select all

systemd-analyze
systemd-analyze blame
systemd-analyze critical-chain
cat /var/log/boot.log
cat /var/log/kern.log

Try looking up the term "ECRYPTFS_FNEK_ENCRYPTED" using e.g. Google or your favourite web search engine.
You will find out the answer easily.
E.g. using Google this way: ECRYPTFS_FNEK_ENCRYPTED

This then is from a previous install. I removed everything. Hopefully this will make things run faster.
