Check your FF plugins, see what plugin you're using (Mplayer, etc)

Hi again

You have the standard plugins.I have the exact same plugins
in my version of Firefox.[Firefox 3.5.3]

Provide a link to a video you have trouble with so i
can see if it works OK for me.

hi real neo

The link you posted runs full screen for me if i do this:-

Click on the top right diagonal arrow
select "watch this video in a new window"
then maximize the window.

Are you doing it that way, or should there be an easier way?

peace

Hi again Neo

Tried it your way and it works perfectly for me.

If your video is choppy it could be your video card driver
or your system is not powerful enough.

Open terminal [Menu->Terminal]
and post the ouput of this command

Code: Select all

inxi -F
this command will show only your video card

Code: Select all

inxi -G
cheers

LibroBrother wrote:Video and audio work fine in general. Video and audio work fine when video is being played in the "native" viewer for any of the multimedia players I have on my box. However whenever I play a video "within" the Firefox browser it can only be viewed very small.
First try a complete uninstall of the flashplayer, media player plugin in Firefox, then a reinstall...

Do them separtately then test the video you are having a problem with
  • Remove Firefox flashplayer plugin
  • Remove Firefox media player plugin
  • Relogin or reboot to clear any residue
  • Install one
    Flashplayer
--check the video link, OK or not
  • Install two
    Media player plugin (gecko)
    --check video, OK or not
Make sure that the two plugins don't appear in the about:plugins list when you have removed them
--from the Firefox address bar about:plugins

Hi libro

The video plays that way for me too in Firefox with the same plugins.
It also plays that way in Opera, so it is not just a Firefox issue per se.

The video you are attempting to run full screen is Flash video
and I vaguely recollect from another thread that there is a known
problem with Flash and full screen.

Perhaps someone else here remembers the thread.

Incidentally, can you play these videos full screen in another OS[e.g. Windows]
or on another computer?

I want to make sure we are not chasing our tail here.

I have the same problem using firefox. I downloaded and installed Opera for Linux, and it works just fine. You might give it a try. :D
