Hi, I have a Lenovo T460 with a figerprint scanner. I would like to use the scanner to login to Linux Mint 20. How can I do this?
Thanks,
Brett

Try the 1st answer here (the Ubuntu 20.04 option since Mint 20.x is based on ubuntu 20.04): https://askubuntu.com/questions/511876/ ... o-thinkpad

Thanks, I have done that and it worked fine, I was even able to successfully enrol my prints, but I do not see any fingerprint login options for logging into my user on mint 20 cinnamon desktop.Hoser Rob wrote: ⤴Tue Jul 20, 2021 8:17 am Try the 1st answer here (the Ubuntu 20.04 option since Mint 20.x is based on ubuntu 20.04): https://askubuntu.com/questions/511876/ ... o-thinkpad
What should I do next?

Re: How to enable fingerprint login
Wow, you got it to work!
Support is lagging for the newer Lenovos. Not a priority, I'd assume. Which it's not, compared to getting your sound and keyboard working. I customized mine in the factory MS install, to see how I liked it (I'd never had this feature before), but I prefer to use my password every day to keep it fresh in my head, and I never bothered to try to enable it in Linux.

Re: How to enable fingerprint login<solved>
I finally got it working! My final hurdle was enabling fingerprint authentication in the pam module, which is done by using the space bar! I found this blog post to be helpful: https://blog.horner.tj/mint-fingerprint-auth-x1c7/
I am able to use both password an fingerprint to log in, whichever I prefer at the time.
I hope this helps someone else...
