Yeah, actually saw the stable release this morning in the UK mirror and went for that. Absolutely love it.
One small caveat: the latest version of Cairo Dock is having problems with Mint 8. Haven't seen anyone on Ubuntu talking about Cairo Dock problems in 9.10, but then again I didn't check real hard. If I install cairo-dock from Synaptic, I get that "do you want OpenGL or not?" question, over and over, no matter how many times I choose yes or no. It's an endless window that seems to only go away by uninstalling the app.
Anyway, I found a solution to this problem. I went to
Cairo Dock's download page and got an older version - in my case, 2.06 - both the dock .deb and the plug-ins. Installation of the plug-ins requires libxklavier12 (no, libxklavier13 or higher will not work), and found that
here.
EDIT: Should probably add that you then need to add cairo-dock* to the list of unwanted packages in MintUpdate.
Not the most graceful solution but it works. Everything else in 8 is fantastic. Thanks very much for the great work!
