Digital Photos

So what native Linux programs do people use to manage their digital photos? I plugged in my memory card and realised there is nothing actually on my system to handle the job just yet, so wanted to get a few ideas from you guys.

Menu -> Software Manager -> Featured Applications . . . F-Spot & Picasa are two that I would recommend. Your choice !

I'm using gthumb for that purpose: http://live.gnome.org/gthumb, it's in the repos.
Two more suggestions (i'm using them sometimes, just to see how other apps work):

Picasa looks good (though i don't like that automatic scanning for new pics inside your home directory evrytime you start it up), but now it's one of that google apps and i don't trust google nor do i like their policy in "renewing" the internet (yes, i'm one of that paranoids ).

I am only at the user level and I use mint 7 Gnome and no issues with handling digital photos. I use Image Viewer for quick look and slide shows. I use Gimp for modifying the photo. Never have any problems with them. I can plug in to the USB port my Canon PowerShot camera and see the photos just fine or sometimes use a USB media reader. Both applications come with Mint. Don't understand your issues.

Personally I like and use Picasa, I have mine set so that it only scans my Picture directory or you can do it manual if you want. With Picasa you can do minor editng and adjusting, rotating etc. It does this without ever losing the original. The other thing I like is I can upload them directory to picasaweb and it will keep the 2 insync if you want. It will also download the photos off your card when you plug it in if you want, I don't do this so I can take the ones that I want and put them where I want.

That would be Digikam, which is what I use.
