Hi,
I am new mint user and my only problem is newtork interface.
Everything works fine till i leave my computer on until screen gets locked. Not sure how much time is needed but when I come back and unlock with my password i see disabled networking.
I am unable to enable it with UI and also in the console.
I tried running:
Code: Select all
sudo /etc/init.d/networking restart
and
The only solution at the moment is to reboot my computer which is super annoying.
Do any of you have an idea what is wrong and how to fix this?
My setup is latest XFCE Mint.

i disabled for now session locking, i only left monitors setting so they get turned off
this is acceptable workaround but the problem with lockscreen and newtork services still remains

I am on the Mate desktop but this should be similar in the menus:
First thing I would do is go into your menus and turn off power saving. Change what happens with closing the lid and other options - Change to shutdown.
Go to your screen saver and turn off locking the screen and password protect.
Then reboot and see if you are still having the problem.

i changed to "do nothing" and i looks okay as it does not suspend the computer.
i also disabled suspend mode in systemd completely so it does not kick in
i do not care whether my computer is running or not, as long as the screen goes off - which it does
but something is not okay under the hoods

Go see if power management of the wifi is on. I would turn it off.
Code: Select all
sudo nano /etc/NetworkManager/conf.d/default-wifi-powersave-on.conf
Look for:
Change the 3 to a 2.
Code: Select all
NM_SETTING_WIRELESS_POWERSAVE_DEFAULT (0): use the default value
NM_SETTING_WIRELESS_POWERSAVE_IGNORE (1): don't touch existing setting
NM_SETTING_WIRELESS_POWERSAVE_DISABLE (2): disable powersave
NM_SETTING_WIRELESS_POWERSAVE_ENABLE (3): enable powersave
See if that helps after a reboot.
